Inside Raven

Meet a #RavIntern: Weston Henschel, Cybersecurity and Defense

Meet Weston

Weston Henschel is a Cybersecurity and Defense Intern working at the Raven Headquarters in Sioux Falls. His focus for the summer is on supporting cyber defense for our parent company, CNH Industrial, and its family of brands. As part of the CNH Industrial organization, Raven team members (and interns!) have the opportunity to collaborate with a global team. Weston is originally from Britton, SD and is pursuing a Cyber Operations degree at Dakota State University (DSU).

While in high school, Weston took several computer and coding classes and developed an interest for cyber operations. He heard of DSU’s top ranking cybersecurity program and knew that was the best place to further his knowledge in cyber operations. Raven’s internship is a great next step to continue to use this knowledge outside of the classroom.

Summer at Raven

Weston got his start at Raven a little different than most interns. He was interviewed to be a CNH Industrial employee that would be working within Raven Headquarters. Although he was hired for CNHI, Weston was excited to begin his internship with Raven because of its great company culture and helpful mentors.

Weston enjoys how hands on Raven and CNH Industrial allow him and other interns to be. Weston is currently working on creating a framework for zero-day vulnerabilities. A zero-day vulnerability is a vulnerability in a system or device that has been disclosed but is not yet patched, or fixed. Weston’s job is to create a precise plan on how to deal with these vulnerabilities while the vendor works to get a patch out so that the company is not in jeopardy. Weston expressed how rewarding it feels being a part of a company, despite him being at an entry-level position.

I went in for a CNH Industrial interview because I wanted to be here at Raven. There is a certain feeling with this company that is just very whole, and it is a great place."
