Meet Lucas
Lucas Bates grew up in Athens, Alabama, and is currently in his undergraduate program studying Agricultural Engineering, Technology, and Business with a concentration on Precision Agriculture at Mississippi State University.
He had known that he wanted to work in agriculture, but not what possibilities were available for him. He noticed that as his hometown quickly grew, the farmland around it was expected to do more with less, which inspired him to join the solution with Precision Ag.
“I ended up going with Raven because I could tell that it was an organization that I wanted to be a part of. So much so, that I packed my bags and moved halfway across the country without knowing a single person here."
— Lucas Bates, Field Support Specialist Intern
Summer at Raven
As a Field Support Specialist (FFS) intern, Lucas travels with mentors and other interns to sites across the country researching, installing, and troubleshooting different types of Raven technology and equipment. FFS interns get to engage face-to-face with famers, and Lucas enjoys seeing how the positive impact of his work and how it will benefit their operations from that point on.
Lucas also remarked that Raven’s culture is unique from other jobs he has had in the past, saying that Raven sets you up for success so you have the drive to operate at your full potential. While getting hands-on experience solving real-world problems, Raven is helping Lucas determine what he wants to do after college.
Fun Facts About Lucas
1. Which of Raven’s core values resonates with you the most? Service is the value of Raven that resonates with me the most. Raven has made it their duty to find solutions for the increasing population-decreasing farmland problem that’s currently being experienced all around the globe. It feels great to be involved in that.
2. Tell us a fun fact about yourself! Throughout 2nd grade, I broke my collarbone, ankle, and busted my eardrum all on separate occasions throughout the year -- rough times.
